[Free Event] Experience Koi Harvesting with a Koi Sale in Nagaoka

Oct 14
2 min read

As autumn deepens, Nagaoka, one of Japan’s home regions for Nishikigoi (ornamental koi), enters the season of “ikeage,” when koi that have grown large in outdoor mud ponds over the summer are harvested from the water.

Koi Ikeage

We, Koi Plus Concierge, are pleased to announce a koi harvesting experience and Nishikigoi sale at the koi farm of koi breeder Matsunosuke. Come and see up close a side of koi farming that few people ever get to witness.

What You Can Experience

Koi Harvesting (Ikeage)

Join the breeder in bringing the koi up from the pond. It’s a rare chance to see each fish up close, with its own colors and patterns, after a full season of growth.

Koi Farm Tour

We’ll show you around the farm and explain the environment in which Nishikigoi are raised.

Meet the Breeder

Ask the breeder anything, from how koi are raised and how to choose a good one, to the craft and care that go into his work.

Koi Sale On Site

You can purchase Nishikigoi raised with great care by Matsunosuke right there on the spot. Prices start at around 5,000 yen per fish, so even first-timers can easily pick one out.

“Azuke-goi” Koi Boarding Service

Would you like to own a Nishikigoi but don’t have a pond at home? Or would you prefer to welcome your koi once it has grown larger? Then our “azuke-goi” boarding service is for you.Leave the koi you purchase in the breeder’s care, and he will raise it for one year. Watching how your own koi grows over the year is one of the true joys of Nishikigoi.
