A 2-Hour Japan study tour in Osaka for 13 Graduate Students from the U.S.

We at miit, inc. recently delivered a business program in Osaka for 13 graduate students visiting from the United States. All participants were pursuing degrees in Accounting, Accounting/Finance, or Business Accounting — the next generation of finance and business professionals.

Their goal was clear: to understand how business actually works in Japan, not through textbooks, but through real conversations with people living it. To meet that need, we coordinated two active professionals — a Certified Public Accountant and a Judicial Scrivener — who shared their firsthand experience of Japanese business practices, career journeys, and professional philosophies in an honest, unscripted way.

The result was one of the most impactful Japan business experiences we have delivered for international students to date.

Participant Feedback (13 responses)

Overall Satisfaction "Very Satisfied": 92.3%

"Well Above Expectations": 53.8%

"Above Expectations": 46.2%

Recommendation Score: average 9.15 / 10

What Participants Said — 3 Key Themes

  1. The Value of Learning Directly from Active Professionals

Because both speakers drew from their own careers in accounting and law, the content resonated deeply with students pursuing the same fields. This kind of professional lecture program in Osaka offered something no classroom ever could — unfiltered insight from people doing the work right now.

"Helpful information you can't learn in a classroom."

"Great insight from industry professionals."

"They were very engaging and professional."

  1. Encountering a Different Philosophy of Work

Beyond technical knowledge, what stayed with students were the personal values and life philosophies shared by the speakers. For graduate students on the verge of launching their careers, this business education experience in Japan became something far more meaningful than a study session.

"Live the life you love."

"Do something you are passionate about."

"Safety over profit."

  1. Understanding Osaka's Unique Business Culture

Japan is not just Tokyo. Participants repeatedly highlighted how much they valued learning about Osaka's distinct business identity — its merchant heritage, its emphasis on trust, and its grounded approach to work. This study tour in Japan gave students not just facts, but a felt understanding of why Japanese professionals think and act the way they do.

"Interesting differences between Japan and the U.S."

"Trust — a lot of what Japan prioritizes is based on trust."

"I learned a bit about Osaka specifically, not just Japan as a whole."

At miit, inc., we design and coordinate authentic Japanese business experiences for international students and professionals, based in Osaka and Kyoto. From sourcing the right speakers to full program management, we handle everything end to end.
