miit is a curated special tourism company. But why can miit be such a curated service?

This time, we provided a workshop in a traditional laboratory of a craftsman in Osaka.

Tin Steel Tableware was the object in this workshop.

The craftsman is Kakutani san, who is the 4th generation of Kakutani family.

The family has kept making traditional teapots, Chagama, for tea ceremonis by traditional tea families in Kyoto.

Unfortenately, the demand of Chagama is shrinking, therefore he started to make tablewares made by tin steel because the process was almost same with Chagama. In this experience, the participants enjoyed their original tablewares under the direct instruction of Kakurani.

The material, tin steel, is a bit soft. So we changed the shape from the original circle shape by small hammers. It is not difficult, but it is your original item with the stamps like your name.

This experience is completely private only for your group and this program includes not only this workshop but also visiting art & crafts museum and Japanese garden guided by Kakutani, which means that you can enjoy creating the art&craft by your hands which you found in the tour.
